FOUND: Many FREE MTC and PCS Gallery Files

Make the Cut and Popup Card Studio have had some technical glitches lately. But the community support for these programs is so excellent, that we now are able to download most of the missing files for FREE!
Liz Ackerman shared the following information: "There was a technical issue with a previous update to the forum software engine, which powers the forum and the gallery, and image files were lost. It’s the same effect when you look at older posts, and the attachments can’t be seen either. The images in MTC and the forum are hosted on the same webserver. "
Sandy McCauley has shared some important links to help us get access to the missing files. She has reported that "any files that are before 1/1/13 are now gone.  However, we have a lot of them at the following links, if you want to download and have them on your own computer":
https://tinyurl.com/vf3gs5c About 14,980 Files organized into 848 topical folders by Dave (AKA Berryone)
https://tinyurl.com/tflebh3 About 5,979 Files collected by Paul Zingah and organized nicely into 114 topical folders from the user contributions in the MTC Gallery.
Sandy also shared a link for Popup Card Studio Gallery SVG files, updated about 6 months ago.
Diana Tunnicliff added thousands of files to the MTC Gallery. Her older and well as all newer designs are now available for FREE on her Archimedes Google Drive. Get them here: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/0ByDca_cRz35gaUVRM0lsMUFJcDg?fbclid=IwAR36NSqho821o7-JRjDU-jnLP57tgCcsdwiJrjSMRFOX2j7jc6ts8PQV2zY
Diana Tunnicliff regularly posts her new files in various facebook groups. She would LOVE to see photos of the projects you have made with them.
Using Google Drive, right click on the folder name, and click on Download. Wait for Google Drive to compile a single Zip file. When the file is ready to download, save the Zip file on your computer. You will need to unzip it before you will be able to import them into your software. Double click on the file name, and select Extract All. Daves folders inside the main file are also zipped, so you will need to unzip them.

Enjoy these amazing FREE collections!

After downloading a zipped file, you need to click on the zipped file and select Extract All. If there are additional zipped files inside of the main zipped file, you will need to do the same to each of those folders.

Once the folders are unzipped, if the files are MTC files, open Make The Cut, go to the File menu and click on Open. Browse to the file you wish to use, and click on Open. The design should appear on the screen. Then you can use it in Make The Cut, or Select All (Ctrl+A) and Export as SVG (Ctrl+Shift+S). Then you can import that SVG file into the cutter software of your choice.

Dave always locked his designs on the screen so you could see them clearly. Before you can select or edit any of them, you will need to unlock. Go to the lower right corner of the screen, click on the Gold Lock icon, and select Unlock All. Now you will be able to Select All (Ctrl+A), and Export as SVG (Ctrl+Shift+S).

There are also SVG files in the downloads. To use an SVG file, you need to use File>Import>SVG or click on the SVG icon at the top of the screen. Browse to the file you wish to use, select it, and it will appear on your screen ready to use.

Is anyone else having trouble opening the files on the tinyurl.com links? I can open the archimedes file fine but not the other two.

Julie Flanagan

Do not open them online, as they are zipped. Download first by right clicking the main folder name, and select Download. Once the zipped file appears, save to your computer. Click on it, and select Extract All. Once extracted, open your software, go to the File Menu and select the MTC file you wish to use. There are some SVG files as well. You have to Import those, as they will not Open directly.

There will be SVG files, which in Make The Cut! (MTC) you get by File => Import and choose the SVG option, navigate to where you saved the extracted files.

For .mtc Make The Cut! project files, you choose File => Open...navigate to where you saved the extracted files and click on the one you want.

If you downloaded a lot of files, they will arrive in one ZIP archive. You must double click and EXTRACT the files to a folder of your choice.

It is possible that your download was corrupt. You might try downloading again, if after extracting the zipped MTC files, they won't open in Make The Cut. I have checked random MTC files from both archives, and simply double clicking on them opens them in Make The Cut. Try downloading a smaller folder, Extract, then open Make The Cut. Go to File>Open, browse to the file you want, and Open. If this works on the sub-folders, then perhaps the larger download didn't work properly.

Diana's MTC and SVG files work fine for me. You will definitely need to download sub-folders from her one at a time, as they a packed with LOTS of files.

Julie

Julie. I tried down loading bunches and most refused, unless I did each one singly. Any one else having problems?  Really like to get more of Diane’s and others. Pat in Kent
