No have not ever experienced this with MTC or any other program myself personally. Do you use the Desktop to store everything? That could be the problem, I have seen this with users that insist on putting absolutely everything on the Desktop  (30+ years computer, end user, desktop ant training support. It got so bad that one IT Manager made so that each time you shut down the computer, it removed all the items except those that were put there by IT). The Desktop is not meant to be a file storage place, but I have seen horrendous problems with hundreds of icons - this will cause Windows to have issues, as when it starts up, it must resolve (validate, check) every single icon. Its going to take lots of time to start up. You have the ability to create folders for files you create, those typically would be under Documents, a folder unique to the user logged on at the time. You can then create a shortcut if you like to that Documents folder on the Desktop for quick access.

To test this, create a file in MTC and save it to C:\Users\name of logged in user\Documents. It should not appear on the Desktop at all. Problem solved.

I'm using Windows 10 (Dell computer).

I think that may just be the result of Design Space updates. Check on a cricut page or forum to see if anyone else is experiencing issues, and contact Cricut themselves. Mostly MTC here and legacy Cricuts if there are any of those users.

Hi. I’m using the same SVG as always with cricut design space but recently the cut for my circles is not perfect. The cut no longer lines up and there’s a teeny bit I need to trim off. Any ideas on why this is happening? I’m not sure how to recalibrate if that’s what needs to be done. Thanks.

The material used for the small parts is not critical. Cardboard, plastic, other materials will work. I use Bristol because it is handy. As for the plastic you cut, .07 is doable. I can stack if i need to.

Welcome to our group, Bob! The type of project that you want to do can be accomplished using a number of cutters. 3-Ply Bristol board is most likely the most challenging media you would be cutting for this project. While the Cricut Maker can cut 3-Ply board with the special knife blade, it does take a while. I have never seen this type of board available in a self-adhesive format. You could apply xyron or double sided sticky tape to the back of the pieces after cutting. I have been able to cut up to 4-ply board using the deep cut blade on the Scan N Cut and on the Cricut Maker with the craft knife. Keep the speed slow. Multiple passes will be necessary. Cricut may take a lot longer, as it requires many more passes. Cricut Maker's are not perfectly precise, but likely will be close enough for your project, within 1mm. Slower cutting with multiple passes will keep your cuts more accurate, whichever machine you use.

Thin leather or bookbinder cloth should cut well on any of the cutters. 

I have cut very thin plastic up to .07 on a number of my machines with no problem. Thicker plastic and acrylic do not cut so easily with the machines.

My name is Robert and I live in Salt Lake city, Utah.

I will soon begin to produce more camera bellows and my recent thinking is a Cricut might be my salvation. A camera bellows requires many small rectangular parts in various lengths. I also require little triangular corner pieces. The shapes are uncomplicated; the quantity is the killer.

I will assume a Cricut might be an ideal way to produce these parts? If I can accurately cut these many parts, my time is cut in half.

Usually, I would be cutting three-ply Bristol board using sharp cutters, but something self-adhesive might serve me better. Are self adhesive materials available? Will the Cricut cut them accurately? A bellows is a two ply affair. The cut parts are glued to the light proof material and a very thin leather or bookbinder cloth covers the little parts.

The bellows is then folded and clamped to allow the bellows to hold its shape.

I have access to plastic sheet from .00005 on up. I might use this because some of this material is backed with an adhesive. Do any of you have experience cutting thin plastics?

I will defer to the wisdom of this group.

I agree with previous posts mentioning dedicating each printer for a specific type of ink. I converted an older printer for use with sublimation. Although I could switch out cartridges later with regular ink, that is more trouble than it is worth. 

 

Also a CIS system is great for a printer that is used a lot. I may switch over the printer that I used for sublimation to a CIS system in the future, but for as little as I use it, the cartridges are working for me. 

 

Evaluate your needs carefully. For example, if you need a large format scanner, consider purchasing a Scan N Cut. Not only do you get large format scanning functions, but you also get the benefit of a powerful cutting machine that can use SVG cutting files.
