IMPORTANT: MTC Site is GONE
Julie Flanagan
The Make The Cut site is GONE. This means that Make The Cut software and Popup Card Studio software are no longer for sale. This also means that there is no longer an option to retrieve your registration keys for MTC or PCS. You can no longer download MTC or PCS Trial versions or drivers. The MTC and PCS User Galleries no longer work within the software.
However, you CAN still use Make The Cut and Popup Card Studio if you ever purchased it, and have saved it and your registration key on your computer. You DO need to PROTECT your copy of the software and your registration keys for future use. Save your entire Make The Cut! directory as well as your registration number to a thumb drive or a CD, in case you need to install Make The Cut to another computer. Copy everything from this folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Make The Cut! to the thumb drive. Then you can then plug in the thumb drive to a new computer and copy these files to the new computer. Make The Cut is full featured cutting software that will cut directly to many different cutters. It includes many advanced design features. The software imports and exports many different file types. There have not been updates to this software in several years, so plugins for newer cutters are not available. But the software is still quite competitive in the market for those designing SVG cutting files. You can create your own cutting files, or customize or edit designs that you have. Then you can select all (ctrl+a) and export as SVG Ctrl+Shift+S). These SVG files may be imported into your favorite cutting software. The User Gallery in Make The Cut is no longer functional. However, you can download thousands of designs from that Gallery. If you own Make The Cut, see this document to learn how to Retrieve your registration key by Sandy McCauley. She has also made some of the archived gallery files available for FREE download: Files contributed by Dave (AKA Berry One) Dave contributed files primarily in MTC format. There are a few SVG files among his collection that even those who do not own Make The Cut can access. MTC Gallery Rescue by User Paul Zingah These are primarily files in MTC format with PNG thumbnail images. Learning Make The CutSupport for Make The Cut software is available in the free User's Manual as well as at the Make The Cut Forum, here at the free MTC-Tuts Group (join to access free tutorials and cutting files), and at my YouTube channel. We are here to help you use this excellent software. There are features in Make the Cut that I cannot find in other software. And many of its features are easier to use in MTC than in other programs. Make The Cut works very well in creating or customizing and editing cutting files. And you can export your designs from MTC to SVG format to use in other software programs on many different cutters.

Re: Photo to SVG Cutting File Class
Julie Flanagan
Yes, this was an excellent class. Jennifer introduced free online software tools for creating sketches from photos. She demonstrated how to use each online tool, along with strengths and weakness of each tool. I thought her presentation was very thorough. Every class that I have purchased from her has been equally beneficial. I learn something new in each one, even though i am a seasoned designer. I think you will benefit as well.

50% all designs from Silhouette through Aug 4
Julie Flanagan
Even if you do not have a Silhouette Machine, you can use designs from the Silhouette Design Store with your other cutters. Silhouette is having a 50% off sale on all of their designs from now through August 4, 2020. Here is my affiliate link: https://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=EuKYsYWeCws&offerid=682264.14&type=3&subid=0
To use the designs from Silhouette Studio with other cutters, make your purchase of any Studio files of your choice. Download to your computer. Unzip the downloaded file by double clicking on the file and selecting Extract All. Go to this site to convert Studio files to SVG : http://www.ideas-r-us-software.uk/FileConverters/SilhouetteStudioConverter.aspx You can convert 10 Studio Files per day for free. Import the resulting SVG file to your favorite cutter software. Here is a video demonstrating several methods for converting Studio files for use in Make The Cut. From Make The Cut, you can export the files as SVG, and import into other cutter software. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7c-0p_mORs4&list=PL6Ws4NVgqvPllV1ouEGFjI7XKdn2APiEc&index=21 Because Silhouette Studio has over 150,000 designs available from hundreds of different designers, I frequently find files I like, and purchase them. I don't convert to SVG until I am ready to use them. Perhaps you will find some must-have designs there as well. If so, purchasing them during a 50% off sale will save you money. You can save even more by purchasing a subscription during one of their subscription sales. Each year that you renew your subscription, you get an additional 10% off of the subscription price. If you purchase a subscription for the entire year in advance, you get an additional 5% off of the subscription price. I have been doing this for years, so my cost for each $.99 design is currently down to less than $.04 when I purchase during the 50% off sale. I have the Premium subscription that allows me $150 worth of downloads each month. During 50% off sales, I get twice as many designs for the $150 credit. I save my credits for up to 2 months, giving me about $300 to use during the 50% off sales. The price I paid for $1800 worth of downloads for the year was $121.11. I place all of the designs I like on my wish list, and dump the wish list to my cart during 50% off sales. That gives me double the value, so that regular $.99 files cost me only $.03 each. I can create my own designs, but my time is worth a lot more than $.03. Purchases made via the Silhouette Design Store are not "Rentals". You own the designs you purchase even if your subscription expires. However, it is important to know that the designs are designated as "Personal Use Only", unless you pay extra for a commercial use license. Julie

Re: PLEASE NOTE!

I really like PCS if he is no longer going to provide keys for those who has purchased he should make PCS so that you do ot need a key to use it and let us download again with this new version then take down the site that is still selling it. I have had, like many others have had I am sure, so many expenive programs that I lost money on because the company when out of business etc and you could no longer activate the program if if you have the orgianal key.

PLEASE NOTE!
Liz Ackerman
Make The Cut!’s sister product Popup Card Studio is no longer available to
purchase even though there is a website that “sells” it. The owner was unaware
that PCS was defunct. He will be fixing that as soon as he can.
This will likely also mean that if you lost your PCS registration key it
may be likely that you will not be able to recover it. I am waiting information
on that.

Re: Opening SVGs from Pop Up Card studio into design space

It may help if you change the fill files to a lighter color first before putting it into Design Space. Also I found that most of the time I have to recreate the score lines Here is a youtube that may help you putting in new score lines.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3yyYA8eUWU \ I am just learniing how to put files into Design Space so i am not sure if this will help yoiu. I love Cricuts cutters but there software sucks.

You put a pop up design into MTC? I saved them as svgs but it doesn't work in design space. Chris

Wendi,
Did you save a Pop Up design? I can get the MTC svg's into DS but not the pop up ones. I am beyond frustrated. What cutter is compatible now with MTC and PCS? Chris

That is strange. I am just now having the same issue. I put it in MTC and it opened fine. Then saved it as an SVG and Cricut opened it fine as a cut file.

Opening SVGs from Pop Up Card studio into design space
christine prato
Hi,
I am TRYING to open designs I have in pop up card studio into design space and all I get is a black shape with a few little white spaces. Not sure how to do this. I have attached 2 photos -- one is the design in PCS and the other is what shows up in design space. I no longer have my Black cat cougar cutter so I am kind of stuck. Thanks, Chris
