Thanks.  My confusion was that it worked the correct way but wasn't sure why since I didn't have  what the book said selected

One other question....when I was working through the 04.Decorate a Cupcake Wrapper Using MTC under Curve Text using Bezier Warp, the instructions say under the Text and Fonts tab uncheck the "auto split) and accept.  I don't see that.  My box looks just like the one under #3 but I don't see that option.  What am I missing?

I normally wait until my prototype card is cut to determine if any of those bits need to be cut away. Remember that the number portion will be standing up, while the card between the numbers will be laying flat. Sometimes I find that those extra bits are needed for stability, especially those pieces that go to the back of the card, where they can be glued down. You can cut them away with scissors as you are assembling the card if you like. But if you want to cut away that piece you can use the cropping tool, or you can draw a line across that piece. There is a line tool on the bottom toolbar, first icon on the right.

I missed the part about exporting *into shapes*!!! Thanks so much for that! PHEW .. saves a lot of work!

Re: the part between the 8 and 7.. yes.. it's not attached to anything at the back so it's floating about. As is the bit between the anchors.. as in the SVG attached.  Not sure if that's right or not but I cut them away anyway.

Again, thanks for invaluable assistance!

Anyone may join the PCS_Tuts Yahoo group, but all requests to join, and all posts are moderated, for the safety of the group. Once in the group, you may access all of the printable tutorials, photos, cutting files, and links to helpful sites, even if you do not own the software. There are video tutorials on my youtube channel, and SusanBlueRobot has hundreds of videos on PCS posted at her blog. All of these are free for anyone to access.

If you having trouble joining the group, you can send me a note, and I can send you an invitation to join. Once you receive the invitation, you need to accept the invitation, and sign-in with your Yahoo ID to become a member.

You can see the videos I have posted (mixed in with my other software videos) on my youtube channel here: https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/pcs_tuts/info

See Susan's PCS video tutorials here: http://www.susanbluerobot.com/

You can download a free trial version of Popup Card Studio here: http://tinyurl.com/111PCS

The trial version does not allow you to print or export SVG files, or cut, but you can play with it to follow a tutorial and learn how to use it.

If you decide to purchase PCS using my affiliate link, contact me via private email after you make your purchase, and I will send you a set of my popup cards as a Thank You.

This may be a dumb question, but:  do you need to actually own Pop-Up Studio to belong to that sub-group and watch the tutorials?  This could be an interesting aside for me--but I'm not sure I am ready to buy into that full studio set also.   I do not see a way to join Pop-up Card Studio Yahoo Group on that page.  Did I miss it--or is it by invitation only with purchase?

Re: Question about PCS [1 Attachment]

There is a space between the 8 and 7 that should remain uncut. So I doubt that you want to add a cut line there, unless I am misunderstanding your question. If you have the latest version of Popup Card Studio, 1.1.0, you should be able to use File>Export>Project Shapes>As SVG file. This will give you all of the pieces to import into other software. You may use any or all of them as you like.

[Attachment(s) from scrappinsass@... [MTC_Tuts] included below]

Hi, I apologize in advance if this question has been asked and answered as I've not had time to go through all the videos.

1. I went through the *changing numbers on the birthday cake* and successfully changed it, however I must have missed something as the bottom between the 8 and 7 didn't cut (not sure how to add a cut line so just did it manually) and also the line between the anchors were still joined (just put the anchors in for practice). Is there a tutorial on adding cut lines?

2. I've attached a screen shot of the file I'm referring to, and I would like to know if there's an easy way to capture the top of the card, and the bottom of the card so that I can cut background papers to size and shape. The part I would like to cut is the light green top and the dark green bottom, without the cake pattern.

I am so impressed with how this pattern cut! I used 110lb paper, and used the engraver for the fold lines and it almost popup up by itself! Excellent work on the file and the video Julie!

Thanks

Re: Regal split monogram file

Julie Flanagan

I have attached an SVG version of the modified Regal Split F. If you are cutting from a software to a machine that does not do overcuts, you will have trouble weeding vinyl cuts unless you use a double cutting pass. MTC cuts great because it has an overcut. SCAL4 has the option to set the overcut, and Silhouette Studio has an overcut. Pazzles and Cricut Design Space will require double cuts.

Try the True Type Version. Download the TTF file, and load it temporarily or permanently in MTC or simply put in your system Fonts folder, Select the font and type F. I edited all of the designs for the TTF to reduce number of pieces and eliminate tiny issues like you are having.
