Re: xpost: Nodes question

There is an advanced feature in Make The Cut to Smooth and Simplify (Ctrl+Shift+J) that is particularly helpful in reducing the number of nodes in a project, particularly after importing PDF files into Make The Cut. You can also find this option by clicking on the Wrench icon on the Shape Magic toolbar at the bottom of the screen. Julie, craftymusician@... What version of Make The Cut are you using? If the file was created in a newer version of Make The Cut, and you try to open it in an older version, it may not open. That helped me remember about inkscape. I have a few circles (about 12) and the hade so many nodes (in mtc). I wasn't sure if I could edit that in mtc or not. So took it into inkscape and saw all of them and instead just going to rebuild in inkscape instead. Thanks for the help.

I am having the same problem. My MTC saved files will not open in the box… It tells me it is not available. This is in the MTC program. I designed a project and saved to MTC for my Cricut but now it will not open. I have just recently updated the MTC because I have bought the Silhouette Cameo. Can anyone help with this? I can use it when I Make it but it will not pull up the saved files after it is in my computer MTC files. LisaC

Re: Cameo and MTC
Julie Flanagan
SVG files will not include picture images. You will have to either pixel trace the image, or add it to the SVG as a texture: If you are using a Cameo, you should just do the PNC from the Silhouette Studio DE software without converting. If you are cutting to a different machine, you will need to save the pattern itself as a jpg to add as a texture to your SVG image in MTC. So here is how I did it. There may be better ways, but this works for me. 1. Add a large square to your screen in SSDE. 2. Add the texture to the square. 3. Capture the texture in the square using a screen capture utility such as the Windows snipping tool, or the free MWSnap. 4. Save the shape as an SVG file. 5. Import the SVG into MTC. 6. Right click on the image and use Ctrl+Shift+O to add or change texture. 7. Choose your texture and click on OK. 8. The texture fills your shape, and you can do your print and cut project using any MTC supported cutter. Julie, craftymusician@... The SVG files saved in Silhouette Studio Designer Edition 1.9 or 2.0 can be imported into Make The Cut, making sure that you select Use Actual, and set the DPI to 26 in the Preview window. Please note that SVG files saved in other versions of Silhouette Studio will not import properly.
