Re: xpost: Nodes question

There is an advanced feature in Make The Cut to Smooth and Simplify (Ctrl+Shift+J) that is particularly helpful in reducing the number of nodes in a project, particularly after importing PDF files into Make The Cut. You can also find this option by clicking on the Wrench icon on the Shape Magic toolbar at the bottom of the screen.

What version of Make The Cut are you using? If the file was created in a newer version of Make The Cut, and you try to open it in an older version, it may not open. Check to see which version of Make The Cut you have open under the Help Menu: About Make The Cut.

Cricut Happy Hauntings Cartridge!  It can be found on several web sites...see this link   http://www.obsessedwithscrapbooking.com/2010/12/best-halloween-cricut-cartridge-of-2010.html

I learned something new today...how to do what you asked.  This set of instructions worked for me.

right click on the image and click on ” select image location ” or ” select/copy image url ” .

now open this page — images.google.com

in the search bar on the screen , you will notice a little camera icon on the right end of the search bar .
click on it and now paste the image url , you just copied .
and then let google search it .
it shall display results of reverse image search , that is all sites where that particular or its related are posted .

another alternative is , if you use Firefox ,
the TinEye Reverse Engine extension .
you can also search the image on the TinEye home page as well ..

That helped me remember about inkscape.

I have a few circles (about 12) and the hade so many nodes (in mtc).
I wasn't sure if I could edit that in mtc or not. So took it into inkscape and saw all of them and instead
just going to rebuild in inkscape instead.

Thanks for the help.

I know it is a setting that I need to change in Inkscape and go back and select one of the shapes and wiggle it back and forth a bit.   That is as far as I can remember.  I saved the answer someplace but can't find it.   Can anyone help?   Thanks!

Re: Cameo and MTC

Julie Flanagan

SVG files will not include picture images. You will have to either pixel trace the image, or add it to the SVG as a texture:
If you are using a Cameo, you should just do the PNC from the Silhouette Studio DE software without converting.

If you are cutting to a different machine, you will need to save the pattern itself as a jpg to add as a texture to your SVG image in MTC. So here is how I did it. There may be better ways, but this works for me.
1. Add a large square to your screen in SSDE.
2. Add the texture to the square.
3. Capture the texture in the square using a screen capture utility such as the Windows snipping tool, or the free MWSnap.
4. Save the shape as an SVG file.
5. Import the SVG into MTC.
6. Right click on the image and use Ctrl+Shift+O to add or change texture.
7. Choose your texture and click on OK.
8. The texture fills your shape, and you can do your print and cut project using any MTC supported cutter.

You need to have the Designer version of SS 2.0 for this to work. Saving it in the 2.5.8 version will not produce a valid SVG file.  SSDE 2.0 is saving it as a Studio file, then install Inkscape and try again to save the file from SSDE 2.0 as SVG. It should work.

The SVG files saved in Silhouette Studio Designer Edition 1.9 or 2.0 can be imported into Make The Cut, making sure that you select Use Actual, and set the DPI to 26 in the Preview window. Please note that SVG files saved in other versions of Silhouette Studio will not import properly. Also, make sure that you have a program installed on your computer that opens SVG files, such as the free Inkscape, so that your computer does not rename the SVG file with a .studio extension.

If you have the Cameo and the Silhouette SD/Cameo plugin installed on your computer, then you can cut any cutting file that you have available in MTC to your Cameo. I cut to my Cameo exclusively from MTC without a problem. SVG files import fine into Make The Cut for cutting to the Cameo. Take a look at the Rounded Rectange 2 in the Basic shapes. When resized to the length and width of your sign does it look like the shape of your sign? You could cut from paper first to test, then make adjustments as needed.

How do you open up the SVG files that you save from Silhouette in MTC?  I was able to save a file by adding the extension .SVG to my filename in Silhouette.  But when I go to open the saved SVG file MTC won’t open it.  Are there different versions of SVG that programs recognize?

If you have the Cameo and the Silhouette SD/Cameo plugin installed on your computer, then you can cut any cutting file that you have available in MTC to your Cameo. I cut to my Cameo exclusively from MTC without a problem. SVG files import fine into Make The Cut for cutting to the Cameo. There are a couple of methods for converting your Studio designs for use with Make The Cut, if you prefer to cut them from Make Th e Cut.

Subject: [MTC_Tuts] Cameo and MTC

I know there has been a lot of discussion here about Cameo and MTC and since I didn't have the Cameo, I kind of ignored it.  However, I am considering getting the Silouette Cameo to use ONLY with my MTC projects and not to design anything on my own (no talent whatsoever!).  Can I use all the SVGs, MTC files and other digistamps I have to cut on the Cameo?  I notice it doesn't support SVG's but that may be for things a person would design in their program and then save.  Thanks for any help you can provide:)  Gloria
