Hello,  I went to the webside and downloaded using the HERE prompt. After I downloaded, I got a prompt that a Virus was found on my computer. I did not click on the link or closed it out. I immediately held down the power button on my computer and shut down. I opened my computer and ran a virus scan through Trend Micro anti-virus and did not find anything. I have heard that the pop-up is a virus and if you respond by clicking on the prompt, that is how the virus gets into your computer.

Is this something like you have in mind, when the arch is the same for all layers, and the left edges are all lined up for binding?

Do you think I should try washing it again with Dawn and applying another sheet of Re-Nu with a scraper?  I'm hoping that I don't have to throw my mat away.

OH NO!  Don't throw the mat away.....this is easy to rectify..  you must get any residue that is oily off the mat. I think Dawn dishwashing liquid is the best for doing this. I would wash it several times and let it dry in between.  The VERY best solution is to do like most people and put it right over what was already there. The adhesive needs something to stick to.  I have seen some pictures of horribly dirty mats that are working just fine once the Re-Nu sheet is applied! :-)
Good luck..let me know if you need additional help.

Forgot to say, does not need to be the expensive stuff - the cheaper the better and test on a corner if you are worried about it.

just don't smoke or put it near naked flames of course LOL

Has anyone been having problems with the Re-Nu adhesive sheets used to resticky mats?  I cleaned my mat with Stick Away, washed it with detergent and let it dry overnight.  I used a brayer to apply the Re-Nu with lots of pressure.

Two things...the Re-Nu dots need to be put on with a scraper of some type.  If you do not have a scraper you can use a credit card but the scraper that comes in the initial kit is a larger harder surface and will lay them down much better. People have had success with a brayer but not as good as using a scraper of some type.  The scrapers you can buy at the dollar store for scraping out pans etc. work well too.  I have someone using an ice scraper for windshields but you would have to live in an enviornment where you use one....LOL

Secondly, we have had several people who have complained of the same thing if they clean the mat first.  I would NOT do a full clean on the mat.  It depends on the chemicals used I don't know what is in "stick away" but almost all of these cleaners have some type of an oil base and they will not lay down over that.  I had people clean their mats with baby wipes with lanolin and it did the same thing.  They quit using baby wipes and with lanolin and it never happened again.  If your mat is REALLY dirty maybe a drop of Dawn dishwashing liquid and water and that is it.  The mat does not have to be super clean.  Most people keep putting them over the mat without cleaning very successfully. It appears to work better this way.  We have had a handful of complaints about the mats and these are the main two things.  I hope this helps!

I wanted to thank Julie for her help with MTC so I could finish a lamp for my granddaughter's teacher. Since I'm new at this, I couldn't figure out how to attach the pictures to this message, so I posted it in Photos.

Thank you, Julie, for all that you showed me. I'll probably have more questions as i explore around this MTC-Tuts.

Re: Cutting fabric with Cricut

Julie Flanagan

There is a tutorial in the group's Files section in the Advanced Lessons folder covering how to cut fabric with your cutter. The specific settings you use will depend on the blade you are using and the type of fabric. All of the cutters will cut thin 100% cotton fabric that has been stiffened or stabilized using one of the methods mentioned in the tutorial. Make sure you have a new blade not used for cutting paper reserved for cutting fabric. You may find that a deep cut blade works better than the regular blade, but either should work. I always use the fastest speed on the E or Cake. Do test cuts to determine the best blade depth. You may need to use more than one pass to get all the tiny fibers cut cleanly. There are lots of tips and hints in the tutorial, so be sure to take a look at it.

hi

Not sure about the Cricut settings but I iron on the back either Heat and Bond or Heat and Bond lite (use lite if sewing) never had a problem.  I've tried just cutting a decent weight cotton straight onto my mat but it snagged

Hope this helps
