Re: Help with MTC Registration Code

Laura Smithson-Corl

Yes, I did click on the lost reg code link and verified the code sent to me matched my original. The problem does continue unfortunately, and until I can get the software to recognize me as a registered owner, my projects are on hold. I did one test cut just to make sure, and the diagonal slashing verified I am not registered.

I am very comfortable with computers and technology, and have a very good understanding of how software works, etc. I had hoped by uninstalling, shutting down, cold rebooting and then reinstalling, any corrupt files would be repaired. There are no issues with my virus checker, etc. and I am current on Windows 7 updates.

I am just going to have to wait for the support staff to work my ticket. I will post when issues are solved and the great mystery with my registration is revealed.

Did you click on this link to have your Registration Code sent to you?

I had to have mine sent again using this link. Once I entered it in the software, it started working properly again.

Hopefully they will get back to you soon with a solution.

It is now Friday 12/9 and I am also having this problem (it started on 12/7.) It seems for some of us this is more than a temporary glitch with the MTC servers.

I could find no help on the MTC forum and ended up submitting a support ticket at MTC.com which typically could take 24-48 hours to elicit a response.

I have installed, uninstalled, re-installed current versions as well as gone back several versions and the same problem exists. The registration key will not save, my name is not listed as the registered user even after I paste in the code (with no extra spaces) which I too had resent just to make sure the key I was using was correct. And, like you, I am now dead in the water unable to continue my projects.

Hope this gets resolved soon.

Laura

I need HELP desperately. I have had MTC since the beginning of time. I downloaded and upgradged to 4.0.4 and it keeps asking me for my registration code. I have copied and pasted it SEVERAL TIMES and it apparently is not taking. I am in the middle of kitting for a class and the program has now ruined 3 12 x 12 sheets of paper by cutting the diagonal. I even thought okay, maybe my code is incorrect so I had MTC resend me my registration code and I copied and pasted that into the box and it still has not taken. Does anyone, please, please know what I should do? I'm about to have a melt down :)

Thanks in advance.

Be very cautious about deleting fonts from the Windows\Fonts folder. Removing a font used by or required by Windows can have disastrous effects.

Until version 4.1, MTC read the fonts that you have installed in your computer's Fonts folder, and allowed you to load temporarily fonts that are not iin that folder. With version 4.1, there is an option to load fonts permanently that are not in your computer's Fonts folder. To delete a font from your regular font list, you would have to remove it from your Windows Fonts folder.

It will be very helpful for Andy if you can describe in more detail what the problem was with the cut to your Pazzles. Send him the design, and describe in detail what happened when you sent it to cut. Pictures of faulty cuts are also very helpful.

A simple phrase I tried to cut with my pazzles - wouldn't cut right.

Okay so I pull out my expressions - I had turned the phrase 90 degrees so it would fit the paper.  The the expressions change it to that?  Nope - cut it normal so it didn't fit on the paper.

Could it have anything to do with the fact that I turned off the margins?

I just updated to 4.1.0 of the MTC and did the update for the pazzles plug in.

Re: nodes

I was playing with node editing again last night. I think the reason we may find MTC node editing to be clumsy, is that we are expecting it to work like other programs we have used. I needed to practice with it awhile again to get used to it. Key is to left click on the line you wish to edit, then right click to select one of several different options or to just drag the green line to where you want it. I was amazed at how nice the Convert to Line function is. If your line suddenly goes crazy on you, convert to line, then you can nudge the entire line into an arc if you need a nice curve. Deleting nodes is also very helpful when you want to work with a longer segment. Zoom in really close if you want to edit tiny detail. Learning to make adjustments in the lines using the bezier handles is also a new concept for me, that takes some getting used to.

If there is other software that you are more comfortable using for editing, you can continue to use it.

Yes, you can turn off the margins from the Virtual mat tab on the main toolbar on the right side of the page. Look under the Landscape/Portrait option. Uncheck the Show Margins option.

Julie, thank you so much for the detailed report :-).......I have a CCake that a friend gifted me. I now have a dedicated fun foam cutter :-)

--- In MTC_Tuts@yahoogroups.com, "CraftyMusician" <craftymusician@...> wrote:

Someone asked about how Fun Foam cuts. I tried it on the Cricut Cake and the Zing this morning. Keep in mind that Fun Foam comes in different thicknesses. What I cut is 2mm thick. It will be easier to cut thinner Fun Foam.

Zing: blade extended, pressure maximum (160),speed 9, blade holder raised slightly in the jaw. Cut most of the way through, and punched out very cleanly.

Cricut Cake: Deep Cut blade holder and Regular blade holder with deep cut blade in both, Blade extended to 6, maximum pressure and speed. Deep cut blade in Regular housing cut a bit deeper through the Fun Foam, single pass. Shape peeled out fine. Second pass made it peel slightly cleaner. Snip to the cut line, and peel around cut lines.

Zing produced a cleaner cut, as it was deeper, but both worked fine.

I would not recommend cutting very intricate designs from Fun Foam because of the need to peel or punch out inner shapes.

Both machines are cutting perfect circles.
